OK first off I live in the country and am not willing to sign a 3 year contract, so I'M STUCK ON DIAL UP...

That is not negotiable... if there were 1 year satellite contracts I would be able to access faster speed internet...

Secondly I am shy, and disorganized... not a great combo for venturing out...

thirdly I do a LOT of pro bono work which keeps me occupied...

I am also gravitating to more alternative therapies... Energy Psychology...Biofeedback...Chakra clearings...

THANKS Casey for another great post. I imagine that many have had their fears and reluctances reinforced by non-payoffs. This probably kept me from getting on the internet for too long. My latter efforts HAVE been reinforced. :) Looking forward to Virtual Conference and hopefully learning some new things.

Good luck w. your marathon training.

Great points Casey. I'm a therapist with a private practice and an online business of selling e-workbooks for couples via my mental health and relationships resource website (The Toolbox at LisaKiftTherapy.com).

I'm so grateful that I took the internet marketing plunge a number of years ago - because it's allowed me maintain a successful private practice and see the sales of my workbooks steadily increase.

The reality is, the landscape has changed completely for therapist and counselors. Unless you currently have a thriving practice based soley on referral, you can only benefit from jumping into the marketing pool. It's ok - just do it!
