The  questions that have our phone line ringing these days are about websites and internet marketing. After all, the whole website/internet thing can be so confusing.

Vondie, a therapist in southern California, was once very fearful of  online marketing and websites. She called herself a “genuine techno-phobe.” But she also realized that her market (younger people) would be online and she knew she needed to reach them. She allowed herself to be a little fearful and yet slowly began to learn about websites and blogs. Now she has to pull herself away from it, as she enjoys working with the internet so much. “And many of my clients come from the internet,” she reports.

People love to hear Vondie’s story. Because, as I said, the internet can be very confusing. What do you put on the website? How do you make the website attractive to web visitors? Where do you start when creating an internet presence? What makes a good domain name? The questions go on and on.

1) Our very own Coach Tiffany of International Therapist Leadership Institute will be offering a quick-start, 4-session teleseminar series called Internet Marketing for Therapists. b) Make sure your online presence is attractive to the client. A good website, listing or blog should show your online visitors that you care about them – that you understand their problem.

c) It should be easy for your online visitors to contact you and make an appointment with you. Just as you return your phone calls quickly, make sure you check and return email messages quickly.

d) Consider an online scheduler so that clients can make appointments with you on their own. Mark Saindon, a therapist in Portland, Oregon says he has as many as five new clients a week signing up via his online scheduler.

Don’t be frightened by technology. If it seems to complicated for you, enlist the aid of a high school or college student. They can help you to quickly get an online presence. Don’t be left out of this fabulous way of attracting clients.

As I have mentioned, technology will be the primary way therapists and healing professionals get clients in the coming decade.

This means you need some sort of web presence.

There are two very easy ways to get on the internet right now.

The first is to write a compelling listing for the online therapist locator services such as http://www.Find-A-Therapist.com

The second is to create your own blog or website that contains content that “speaks to” your ideal client and gets them to pick up the phone and call for an appointment.

So what does your website say? Does it speak to your ideal client?

I believe the number one concern a potential client has when looking for a therapists for is “Will the therapist ‘get me?’”
