Really – you can have your own PDF copy completely free. But why?? It is all about sharing. People have done plenty of kind and generous things for me over the years and I want to “pay it forward.” I want to share a gift with you and say “Happy New Year!

I am hoping that you will join me in ‘paying it forward.’ After you download your own copy, would you please consider passing on this gift to your colleagues as well? If so, we’ll make it easy for you to do so when you download your copy. And I believe your friends and colleagues will thank you. Everyone loves a gift, right?

Some very nice people have said some kind things about Be A Wealthy Therapist: Finally You Can Make A Living While Making a Difference:

“Reading this book could not only give you more time with friends and family, but can make you thousands of dollars. Clearly written and very sound. Get it, read it, implement it and reap the emotional and financial rewards.”
–Bill O’Hanlon, psychotherapist and author of over 30 books

“I have read just about every book on marketing a practice. Casey Truffo’s book is the easiest to read and to apply.”
–Debra Taylor McGee

“I got happier the day I stopped sitting around waiting for clients to call me, and dropped the fear that I had to take any client that came in my door. So what helped me? Casey Truffo! Her book is a perfect blend of coaching strategies, life experience, and, most importantly, no-nonsense ideas that work. “Be a Wealthy Therapist” will really help you build a successful and wealthy practice.”
–Jason Fierstein, LPC

One note though…if you are looking for a boring textbook with big words, this book isn’t for you. Be A Wealthy Therapist is a very quick and easy read – with coaching questions to get you thinking and motivated.

So, Are You Ready To Get Your Copy?

*Available by download until 9pm eastern/6pm pacific on Saturday, January 21st.

Enjoy!

Casey

Is it just me?

I woke up this morning to 17 emails from people offering me programs to help me make more money.

On Twitter, I counted 29 tweets with hashtags and links to offers to sell me some service I must have.

On Facebook, I had 5 event invitations from people I do not know personally to teleclasses on everything from Finding a Mate (I’ve had one I adore for 15 years) to Client Attraction to how to use social media to get more clients.

Is it just me?

At this moment I sit quietly in my office with no other sounds than the birds outside and the hum of my printer.

Yet the noise from my in-box is deafening.

And that leads me to my questions for you.

What do you do when you believe your offering is so important that it can change people’s lives?

What do you do when you know that if people invest in their work with you, and do what you advise, that they will recoup that investment many times over?

How do you get heard in the midst of that cacophony?

These are the questions in my brain and the answers that come up for me are:

1) Tell the truth.
2) Share your hope, wisdom and plans for them.
3) Speak in the small still voice and trust the right people will hear you.

So, out of the utmost respect for you, and in the hope that you can hear this small voice, I ask you two more questions:

1. Is there something about your practice that needs to change in order for it to be ideal for you?

2. If so, is it time to invest in yourself so that you can stop spinning your wheels and get some traction toward that business you want?

If you have been trying to market your practice and you are not getting the results you want, it is probably because:

You have too many options to choose from and don’t know which is best, or,

You start marketing and then get sidetracked and lose focus.

If you want a financially and personally rewarding practice, and you aren’t there yet, let’s get you there.

I trust if your inner voice is attracted at all to this, then you will keep reading.

We have two new coaching programs staring next week designed to show you how to get the ideal practice you want:

If you are newer in private practice and want to know what to do to attract your first 10 clients, check out our More Clients for Me program here: http://MoreClientsForMe.com

Have a practice that you enjoy and are looking for more clients, more income or new ways to leverage your time and energy? To move your practice to the next level, consider our Ruby mentorship program: http://InTLI.com/ruby

And, because I know some of you want to know about the results of others, here is what one Ruby member said about her experience in the program:

“Dear Casey,

Here’s some of my results from the Ruby program. Pretty amazing!

- Tripled my income during the 6 month program

- Am on track to more than double my total annual 2011 income

- Filled my practice for the first time and started a waiting list for the first time

- Started charging a very nice fee for giving talks in the community

- Raised my fees twice during the 6 month program, increasing my average per session income

- Gained complete confidence (and proof!) that I can create my ideal practice and serve my ideal clients, all with a 100% private pay business model

Thanks Casey!!!”

Di Philippi, MA, LPC of WellnessCounselingMilwaukee.com – and also honored to be named one of the Top Holistic Practitioners by Milwaukee Magazine (Feb. 2011)

You owe it to yourself to stop wasting time and to start “goal-getting.”

Hope to see you soon.

Love and blessings,
Casey

Casey Truffo discusses how to achieve work life balance for therapists and coaches in private practice.

Mindfulness-based psychotherapy is one of the most popular new treatment approaches in the last decade—and for good reason.

Mental health professionals are enthusiastically discovering that mindfulness practices hold great promise not only for their own personal development, but also as remarkably powerful tools to treat a wide range of disorders.

But what if you are a cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and systemic therapist? What if mindfulness isn’t the way you normally work with clients? I know it isn’t for me.

That is exactly why I hope you will join me at the “Integrating Spirituality and Psychotherapy” virtual conference coming up in just a couple of weeks.

(Note: Two payment option now available. http://SpiritualityConference.com)

Ronald Siegel, professor at Harvard Medical School, will share with you a step-by-step, mindfulness based program for treating chronic pain as well as stress-related medical disorders including insomnia, sexual dysfunctions, and gastrointestinal distress.

Among other things, you will learn how to use mindfulness to augment cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and systemic treatments, and explore ways to deal with the obstacles and challenges that arise when working with particular disorders and personalities.

But there is so much more. (Including 16CEUs)

We will have experts talking about how to help individuals and those with family problems, as well as anyone struggling with drug and alcohol issues, eating disorders, and those who continually feel “not good enough”. You will learn how to help your clients in several different ways by engaging their spirituality.

(Please note I said their spirituality – not religion.)

Check it out for yourself:

http://SpiritualityConference.com

We owe it to ourselves. We owe it to our clients. Wouldn’t you want your therapist to be aware of these techniques to help you?

Love and blessings,

Casey

PS. By the way, we have a new two payment option if you’d like to spread out your payments.

PPS. If you are even the least bit interested, please check it out. The tuition will be going up in just a few days.

written by Bill O’Hanlon

When I visit Britain, I am often amused when I take the Tube (London’s subway train system) to see the signs that warn passengers to beware of stepping in the space between the train and the platform: Mind The Gap, the signs read.

I was thinking of that phrase recently when I came across some research on spirituality and therapy.

A survey undertaken by marriage and family therapist Carlson Thomas (survey results published in April 2002 issue of American Journal of Family Therapy) asked a number of marriage and family therapists several questions.

The first questions was: Do you think there is a relationship between spirituality and mental health?

96% of the respondents answered yes. Obviously, almost all of them thought there was a relationship there.

But then he asked them the second question: Do you think spiritual issues should be considered in clinical work?

This time only 62% said yes. What explains this gap? And should we mind? I think we should and a look at another two surveys tell why.

The first poll was conducted by Greenberg Quinlan Research in October, 2000. They asked the general public about their beliefs about the relationship between spiritual faith/religious beliefs and mental and emotional health. 83% of the respondents said they thought there was a relationship between them. Among African-American respondents, virtually all (97%) held this view. When asked if these issues were important in any therapy they might seek, 75% said it was important to see a professional counselor who would consider and integrate their values and beliefs into the counseling process. And 69% believed it to be important to see a professional counselor who represents spiritual values and beliefs if they had a serious problem that required counseling.

In a 1997 Gallup poll, people responded to the query “How important would you say religion is in your own life?”61% of the respondents answered “very important.’” 27% answered “fairly important.” 11% said “not very important,” and 1% had no opinion. Now, not counting people who don’t relate to the word religion and consider themselves spiritual instead (which this poll didn’t measure), it seems that at least 88% of our clients consider religion a crucial part of their lives.

Yet, therapists are, at times, reluctant to include or visit spiritual or religious beliefs. I think our blocks come in part from Freud’s legacy. Freud considered religion to be a defense mechanism, made up of “illusions,” reflecting the “universal, obsessional neurosis of human beings.”

But aside from Freud’s influence, which has surely waned through the years, many of us have been restrained by our training or supervision experiences. When I speak on this subject, I take an informal poll of the audience of therapists. The majority, especially of older therapists, raise their hands when I asked how many of them were restrained or forbidden by supervisors or teachers from bringing religious or spiritual issues up in the therapy process. Obviously, many of us were also encouraged to include these issues as well, as part of being culturally sensitive, but often we weren’t given guidelines as to how to do so.

In recent years, there has been a renewed interest in including spiritual issues and resources in therapy, with a number of books released about the subject. I am encouraged by this trend and hope you are too. Now if we can only sort out what we mean by spirituality and come up with some guidelines for when it is most useful to bring it into treatment and how, exactly to do so without imposing our own beliefs or disputing our clients’ beliefs, we will be able to move forward.

That’s what Casey and I plan to do during the Spirituality and Psychotherapy Virtual Conference February 14-18, 2011. We hope you will join us. www.spiritualityconference.com
