I get it. The phone isn’t ringing. Your clients are telling you that they need to come to sessions less often. It feels scary and disheartening.

Of course the bills still need to be paid. If you are like many private practitioners, you especially notice the anxiety creeping in if and when the phone does ring with a potential new client.

It is easy to blame the economy for the downturn in your caseload.

After all, many people are out of work and therapy (or coaching) can be perceived as a non-essential expense.

And while I agree our economic situation is serious, it is actually only a small part of why your practice may not be the way you want it.

Over the last three months I have been working closely with 155 therapists who are building their practices. As a result, I have had the opportunity to see exactly what is working and what isn’t. This is very cool in-vivo type of evidence.

I’ve made three discoveries..three reasons why well-meaning, kind-hearted, highly trained private practitioners aren’t realizing the success they really want.

I’m pretty sure I know what you’re going to say… ….I know I’ve already identified it for me: Not enough active / productive marketing activities consistently. Accountability helps me, too. I love everything you have to say, and it helps me to hear it. It inspires me to action, and kicks my butt when I need it.
