It is no secret that successful people surround themselves with other successful people. We’ve all heard the saying, “You are as successful as the people with whom you surround yourself.”
One of the most powerful tools to propel you forward is to be part of a Mastermind group. Many successful people credit their Mastermind partners for helping them reach their goals.
What is a Mastermind Group?
It has been defined as a group of two or more minds working in perfect harmony toward a common goal. (For example, building your practice.) A mastermind group can help you think bigger to fulfill your vision and at the same time ground you with specific support, feedback, advice and resources.

A mastermind group can act as a “safe place” where you can feel at home and comfortable to share your hopes, thoughts, strengths and weaknesses.

A mastermind group offers you the chance to share your challenges and opportunities - and get support, ideas, comments - even resources and contacts.
Sometimes, especially with private practice marketing, it feels like we have to learn or know so much. A mastermind group gives you the opportunity to
connect with others who have similar goals but think differently or know different things. This can lead you to new ideas and perspectives – along with specific tips. My husband calls this a private practice “Think Tank.”
The people in a mastermind group want you to succeed. Information is shared freely among the group. Yet confidentiality is expected from group members.
Accountability is built in to a great mastermind group. As you define ‘next actions’ for yourself, you will complete them. The act of sharing what you plan to do next – committing not only to yourself – but a group – can be motivating when it otherwise would be easier to procrastinate.
While you have to do the actual work of succeeding, a mastermind group can help focus and propel you toward that success.
What if you could have a whole day of masterminding with successful private practitioners? And with me, Casey Truffo facilitating and masterminding along with you?
I call it a Private Practice Mastermind Group Day.
What is a Private Practice Mastermind Group Day?
Imagine being with like-minded professionals (and me, practice building coach Casey Truffo) for an entire day … sharing your practice building opportunities and challenges. When it is your turn, everyone in the group focuses their energy on you and your unique goals. You have the opportunity to ask for general or specific responses from the group. Assistance from those in the group can come as knowledge, resources, contacts – and even spiritual energy. You leave with mindset shifts and action items. There is built in accountability.
Each person takes a turn and the group energy is laser-focused on that person and their practice. Each member shares and gets group feedback, and now

Not only will your peers focus on helping you meet your private practice goals, but I will be there with my sleeves rolled up offering my input to you as well.
has new perspectives and resources and can create a detailed action plan. You know what to do next.
Let me show you how it works….
For example, let’s say you are looking for new ways to market your child counseling practice. One member may know of a mom’s group where you could speak and she gives you the contact name. Another group member works with adolescents and suggests you might visit some pediatricians together. A third group member asks “Where are your referrals coming from now? How can you expand those?”
As each of these questions is asked, the group members share their thoughts. You listen to the comments and ideas being shared. Some you’ve thought of before and hearing them from the group validates them for you. Some of the ideas shared have never occurred to you such as visiting the onsite daycare of a corporation near you and offering to do lunchtime talks for the parents. Another group member suggests you contact the counselor at private schools and ask if you can be a resource for the counselor or the school. As you listen to all the ideas, you excitedly write down a list of action items you will address.
After your turn, the next person in the group shares. You give your full energy to him. He is doing some interesting things with his specialty of “helping couples co-parent after divorce.” All kinds of ideas run through your head – including your church’s divorced and separated group. You offer to connect him with the lay minister who coordinates the programs. At the same time, you hit yourself in the head with “I should also see about presenting to my church – they have a preschool program and would love to have a speaker.”
In this private practice think tank, ideas grow and expand as each person shares.
In my Private Practice Mastermind Group Day, everyone will have a turn to share and receive whatever type of feedback they ask for.
Then we will break for an extended lunch. Lunch will be 2 hours. During those 2 hours, I invite you to have a yummy lunch and then start working on the action items you outlined for yourself in the morning.
Not only are you identifying what to do next – you are starting to do it. You are doing it while you have energy and support. Procrastination is minimized.
After lunch, we will repeat the process of the morning. You can report on your progress. You can ask for more comments or opinions on what you worked on in the morning. Or you can choose a different challenge or opportunity to address with the group. The choice is yours and you can use the group however you wish. Each of us is here to support the goals, plans and vision of each member.
What could you get out of spending a Mastermind Group day with me and a select group of your peers?
- Increased clarity and progress on the path to your next goal milestone. Spend a day focusing on where your next big breakthrough might come. Address (with unbiased support and input) your challenges and opportunities. Leave with an action plan to move you toward more success, prosperity and even happiness. In addition, use the lunch break (“work time”) to make tangible progress on your action steps.
- Increased energy. By drilling down quickly to any area where you are stuck allows you to come up with solutions. With a group of your peers, each having success in their own right, you may end up with several solutions from which to choose. It is really hard to stay stuck when a group of people encourage you to move forward and help you figure out how to get there.
- Feedback from successful peers. Private practice can be a lonely place – and marketing it can feel even more lonely. We all have different strengths and with a Mastermind group, you can see what ideas that others have about your plans to achieve your goals. (This has been incredibly powerful for me personally. My vision is the only one I see. When I share it – and my plans to get there, my Mastermind partners can often see beyond my vision to an even brighter one. This propels me forward and helps me rise to an even bigger vision.) At our Mastermind Group Day, you will get comments and opinions not only from the group but from me, Casey Truffo, Practice Building Coach to over 30,000 therapists as well.
- More truth. Family therapist Virginia Satir said that we can’t see our own backside. With the group as a mirror for you, the unseen comes into focus and can be addressed. Opportunities become clearer. Challenges can be addressed with this new vision.
How will this Private Practice Group Mastermind Day work?
Each Mastermind Group Day will be limited to six people plus I will be there to facilitate and offer my input to each group member.
Each group member will bring 2-3 specific challenges or opportunities that they’d like to explore with the group. This could be:
- How to find more clients
- How to move forward on a big project such as writing a book
- How to stop procrastinating on a task that feels overwhelming
- What products to create and offer
- How to manage time better
- Where are some good networking opportunities
- A desire to address and resolve fears – e.g. money, success, rejection – that can come up when building a business
- What to do (or not do) in internet marketing
- An idea that you’d like help developing into action steps
- How to connect with a famous person that would help your business
- How to get into the press or media
- A personal habit you’d like to eliminate
- Even a case on which you’d like opinions
The list is endless. You get choose and the energy and knowledge of all of us come together to help give you the support and resources you request.
Here is the day’s agenda:
9:00 -12:30pm
Each person will have a specific amount of time to share what he or she would like to “mastermind” with the group. You tell us what type of feedback you are looking for: ideas, resources, contacts, suggestions, mirroring or even drilling deeper – your choice. The feedback may also be in the form of support, encouragement or even another challenge.
The sharing member will identify some action items (“takeaways”) that he or she plans to address to move closer to his or her goal.
Then the next group member will take her turn. During this morning session, we will continue until everyone in the group shares and designs their own “next steps” from the group feedback.
12:30 – 2:30pm
Lunch will be combined with some individual or group “work time.” This extended lunch period will give members time to start immediately on their action items. This is so powerful because you’ll have the opportunity to get started right away while you have the energy and enthusiasm of the group support. This is a built in accountability system for those who want to use it that way.
2:30 – 5:30pm
In the afternoon we will repeat the process we did in the morning with each person getting time to share where the entire group is focused on that person and his or her business and concerns. Each member will have several options how to use his or her time in the afternoon. Some will share the progress they made over the lunch break and look to the group for more input on their documented next steps. Others will continue by asking for more input, support and ideas from the challenge they shared in the morning – perhaps with a deeper understanding than they had in the morning. Others will pick a new challenge or opportunity to share with the group in the afternoon. How you use the time is your choice.
Who should attend:
Our group will be composed of only six people to make sure everyone gets the time they need. The private practitioner who would get the most out of a Private Practice Mastermind Group Day would be one who:
- Is looking to attract more clients and would like to tap into the power of a group
- Tends to procrastinate with his/her own practice-building (but deep inside doesn’t want to)
- Feels lonely in practice building efforts and would enjoy connecting with others working toward the same goal
- Is full of ideas but tends to feel overwhelmed and could use some nuts-and-bolts steps (action items)
- Has many ideas and has trouble focusing on the best one(s)
- Is looking for a way to create some accountability
- Wants to pick my brain – and that of others having a similar goal
- Is ready to take action
- Tends toward abundance thinking and wants to support others
This Private Practice Mastermind Group Day would not be the place for private practitioners who:
- Are satisfied with the status quo of their marketing efforts
- Are worried there aren’t enough clients to go around and
- Would have difficulty supporting others
My goals for the Private Practice Mastermind Group Day

Just imagine what you could do with your passion and creativity and the group's ideas, support and input for you.
Expect to leave this day feeling rejuvenated, inspired and with specific action items to help you move forward. The midday time also allows for either further masterminding or work time. With the group support (and the opportunity to report progress in the afternoon) immediate action can propel you forward in amazing ways. Those taking action over the lunchtime work-break will, I suspect, be able to use the afternoon session to explore new or deeper challenges and opportunities.
Imagine what you could do with a day like that. Not only will the energy and power of the group infuse you with ideas and concrete action steps, your offer of support and feedback will do the same for others. Our minds are continually expanding with innovative solutions as we hear and look for ideas for the challenges and opportunities of our peers.
There is amazing power in a Private Practice Mastermind Group day. Remember, not only will you have the power of the other group members, I will mastermind and share my thoughts on your practice with you as well.
Two choices to join me for a Private Practice Mastermind Group day:
What is the Investment?
$375 USD (or two installment payments of $195 each) per person for the entire day with me and 5 of your peers. (with lunch on your own.) Just one new client should pay for this investment. And that client may come sooner as you allow the group to help you focus and give you new ideas and feedback.
Sound interesting?
I have to tell you I am so excited about this. I can see group members making giant leaps that day – both in their thinking and mindset shifts – as well as in areas they have been stuck.

The power of the Mastermind is difficult to explain. Each time I participate in my own Mastermind group, I am called to stop procrastinating, think bigger, or even sometimes to slow down. We all need a mirror. For me, my group helps me to get out of my own way and tap into not only my inner wisdom – but that of other successful people.
